AU: Smaller but tasty citrus crop expected
Citrus crops are predicted to be well down on last year in the South Australian Riverland, but not as bad as earlier feared.
 The fruit was damaged by extreme heat late last year.
Riverland citrus industry development officer Kym Thiel says the navel crop is expected to be less than 55,000 tonnes.
That will be down from 82,000 in 2009, a year with the largest crop in history.
Mr Thiel says this season's lighter crop has resulted in much larger fruit.
"That's one of the things that we're really looking forward to this year," he said.
"[The] industry has grown the crop that everybody's always wanted.
"We do have large fruit, there's no doubt about that, the fruit is looking large, good quality and should have good taste."
