Peru: Citrus exports are currently at U.S. $ 54 million
Peruvian exports of citrus for the period from January to November 2009 had sales of $54 million, 10.7% less compared to last year which reached $ 60.5 million as reported by Adex.
According to Adex Data Trade, in the same period (2008) mandarins had higher shipments worth U.S. $ 39.2 million, followed by lemon exports which totaled U.S. $ 12.3 million and oranges with $ 2.5 million.
In contrast in 2009 mandarin exports had a decrease of 5% with a value of $ 41.3 million, its main destinations being the United States, UK and Netherlands.
Lemon shipments decreased by 3% compared to the same time in 2008 and its main destinations were Denmark, UK and USA. The departure of "essential oils," the highest value reached was U.S. $ 7.2 million.
